1. Vassar Slow Roll

Cyclists of all ages and skill levels can take part in this very slow ride through the city of Vassar. Join your friends and neighbors for a 4.2-mile loop and enjoy a fun, safe way to spend a spring evening. You can even grab ice cream nearby when the ride ends.

Slow Roll occurs every Tuesday from Memorial Day through Labor Day. If you want to participate in Vassar Slow Roll, meet at T. North Pavilion at 6:30 p.m. (South Cass Avenue and East Spring Street). 2. Annual Petunia Planting

If you're looking for a way to serve the Vassar community, join the Annual Petunia Planting on May 20 at 9 a.m. Volunteers will help plant petunias throughout the town's public areas. They'll also provide petunias to Vassar residents who want to beautify their own properties. The event is organized by Keep Vassar Beautiful. The group holds events like Bingo throughout the year to raise money for the flowers in this volunteer initiative.

3. Vassar Farmers Market

You can shop for fresh produce, handmade goods, and other local items every Saturday from June through October. If you have items to sell, you can rent a vendor spot for just $10. The Vassar Farmers Market takes place at T. North Pavilion at South Cass Avenue and East Spring Street. It runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each week.

4. Downtown Vassar Summer Concert Series

You'll have eight chances to see live music in downtown Vassar this spring and summer. Dates for the concert series include The Rock Show on June 7, Soul Xpress on June 14, Tom Petty tribute act Teddy Petty and the Refugees on June 28, Stone Street Revival on July 12, Jedi Mind Trip on July 26, Bob Seger tribute Lookin' Back on August 9, Dueling Pianos on August 16, and The Rock Show again on August 23.

In addition to live music, you can grab a meal from the Savage Burger food truck, play games, and enjoy family entertainment. Each show takes place at a different downtown Vassar location so check the town's official Facebook page for the full lineup.
