A woman holding an ice cream cone

Vassar, MI is home to many seasonal small food businesses, including rustic delis and take-out stands. Vendors offering ice cream treats are super popular when warm weather wafts through the city. Here are three of our favorite nearby places to grab a cool cone, cup, or a satisfying shake or sundae.

1. Chocolates Galore

Located right in Vassar at 620 State Road, Chocolates Galore is a great place to enjoy that frozen goody we all scream for according to the old song. Of course, you’ll find lots of yummy chocolate flavors, as this store is chock-full of chocolatey confections. You could opt for a chocolate-loaded sundae, a hot fudge brownie topped with a frozen scoop, or one of their creamy milkshakes or malts.

Chocolates Galore serves Ashby’s dairy products – hand-made in Michigan since 1984. Try a scoop or two of this iced creamy goodness in a gourmet waffle cone or maybe a banana split complete with whipped cream, nuts, and cherries.

2. Jaami’s

Jaami’s, at 592 Cass Street (at the corner of Main Street) in Frankenmuth, offers piled-high soft-serve concoctions and candy-loaded creamy milkshakes. While you’re at Jaami’s, you may even get a glimpse of their waffle cones being hand-made in their window. But even better, try one of these cones filled with your choice of a wide selection of soft-serve creamy flavors. If it’s tough to decide, consider checking out the monthly specials.

Flavor Burst

At Jaami’s, you can opt for Flavor Burst added to your soft-serve in a cone or dish. You get to choose the flavors that get added in ribbons of color. These flavorful and colorful stripes are spread throughout your frozen treat for extra tastiness and visual appeal!

3. Curly Cone

A summer favorite for people of all ages, the takeout stand Curly Cone in Millington at 8384 State Street has pointed-end waffle cones and a range of flat-end regular cone sizes from super-small to extra-large. With your Crew Cab or Double Cab Chevy Silverado, you can take the family or a group of your friends out for refreshments comfortably on a hot day. This seasonal stand also offers a few main dish options.

The Coney Dog is a highly-rated favorite here, and many prefer it with onions and mustard. Nachos are another possibility, and you can pair these with creamy cold drinks like milkshakes or malts in intriguing flavors such as peanut butter, mint, and raspberry. A float is another option for a cool-down treat, and Curly Cone offers not just the classic root beer type, but also an orange version.
